Wendell and Gini Smith
The City Church
Pastor Wendell Smith and his wife Gini (shortened from Virginia), founded the City Church of Seattle in 1992 with 21 people. The ethnically diverse congregation has grown into a church of thousands. It is marked by a spirit of faith, grace, reconciliation and generosity. Pastor Wendell is a member of the Apostolic Team of Minister's Fellowship International (MFI) with Pastor Dick Iverson and also serves on the Board of Church Growth International (CGI) with Dr. Yonggi Cho
Pastor Wendell and Gini have two married children, both in the work of the ministry of the Church. Their daughter Wendy, is married to Pastor Benny Perez, and pastors The Church at South Las Vegas. Their son Judah, is married to Chelsea and they are on staff at The City Church as Generation Pastors and Young Professionals Pastors.
Pastor Wendell Smith has a BA in religion from Northwest Nazarene College (now University), and was listed in "Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities" in 1972. He served for twenty years as an associate with Dick Iverson on the staff of Bible Temple (now City Bible Church)in Portland, Oregon. He also traveled and preached to thousands of young people for 5 years across America with the "Dragonslayer New Generation Seminars."

About Church
The City Church of Seattle was pioneered in 1992 by Pastor Wendell Smith, his wife Gini, their two children, Wendy and Judah, and a group of families from the Northwest and around the nation (read the full story, as written by Pastor Wendell). The church was an outreach of Bible Temple in Portland, Oregon (now City Bible Church) under the apostolic oversight of Pastor Dick Iverson. Wendell and Gini Smith were on staff at Bible Temple for twenty years as Youth Pastors and associates. They were also involved in international ministry as speakers, authors and ministers. Pastor Wendell became known for the "DragonSlayer" New Generation youth seminars held across America from 1986 to 1992. Pastor Wendell graduated in 1972 from Northwest Nazarene College (now University), where he and Gini met, and where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Religion.
The pastors and members of The City Church have a confident vision of faith for compassionately impacting the immediate community, the greater Seattle area, the northwest United States and other nations as the Holy Spirit directs. Ministry to nations has continued to increase with specific involvement in more than seven nations. The pastors believe every year will bring an unfolding expression of a city within a city, a vision that includes youth and children's outreaches, food and clothing distribution, ministry to the needy, facilities for compassionate care, training, education, recreation, shopping and more with daily ministry to people in need from all walks of life.
The City Church of Seattle is a diverse congregation representing people from a variety of backgrounds, nations, races and ages. The City Church is an autonomous, self-governing local church established on the pattern of the New Testament early church. Using the Book of Acts as a blueprint, the church is structured with local ordained elders as well as apostolic relationship with other Christian leaders outside of the congregation. The church is affiliated with Minister's Fellowship International of Portland, Oregon, where Pastor Wendell serves on the Apostolic Board with Pastor Dick Iverson and Pastor Frank Damazio, helping to provide fellowship, training and accountability for pastors and church leaders worldwide.
The City Church is known for its spirit of worship, prophetic preaching, generosity, faith in the goodness of God and warm Christian love. The City Church began planting new churches in 1998 and continues with a vision that encompasses the metro region of Seattle, the nation's Capital in Washington DC, and other states in the USA and in cities and villages around the world as the Lord leads.
