The City Church
Pastor Wendell Smith and his wife Gini (shortened from Virginia), founded the City Church of Seattle in 1992 with 21 people. The ethnically diverse congregation has grown into a church of thousands. It is marked by a spirit of faith, grace, reconciliation and generosity. Pastor Wendell is a member of the Apostolic Team of Minister's Fellowship International (MFI) with Pastor Dick Iverson and also serves on the Board of Church Growth International (CGI) with Dr. Yonggi Cho
Pastor Wendell and Gini have two married children, both in the work of the ministry of the Church. Their daughter Wendy, is married to Pastor Benny Perez, and pastors The Church at South Las Vegas. Their son Judah, is married to Chelsea and they are on staff at The City Church as Generation Pastors and Young Professionals Pastors.
Pastor Wendell Smith has a BA in religion from Northwest Nazarene College (now University), and was listed in "Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities" in 1972. He served for twenty years as an associate with Dick Iverson on the staff of Bible Temple (now City Bible Church)in Portland, Oregon. He also traveled and preached to thousands of young people for 5 years across America with the "Dragonslayer New Generation Seminars."
